At Artisan Surface Design, we elevate interiors through the thoughtful application and installation of cutting-edge surface finishes, always underpinned by craftsmanship.

We are a family-run business of decorative plaster specialists based in Hertfordshire, serving London & Hertfordshire and beyond. We work with homeowners, interior designers, architects, contractors and fit out companies to create luxury and bespoke finishes in Microcement, Tadelakt, Venetian Plaster, Polished Concrete, Clay Plasters, Liquid Metal, Specialist Paints, Lime Wash and Gilded Metal Leaf, as well as undertaking Commissioned Artwork, Microcement Furniture and High-End Decorating Services.

Meet The Founders

Artisan Surface Design is led by Ciarán and Angela, specialists in decorative surface finishes. Their work is supported by decades of experience in demanding, design-led and complex industries, which informs the way projects are planned, managed and delivered.

Ciarán

Ciarán is a highly experienced installer, applicator and decorator who has worked his way from the ground up to become a leading craftsman and artisan in decorative surface designs.

Before moving into surface design, he worked within the creative and media agency sector, gaining a strong understanding of how architects and design-led studios develop ideas, refine briefs and present concepts to clients.

With extensive experience on high-value projects and a natural creative instinct, Ciarán excels in the discovery process — listening carefully, asking the right questions, and guiding clients towards the finishes and applications that bring their vision to life.

Angela

Angela’s roots are in a family of high-end decorators, where an appreciation for craftsmanship, finish and attention to detail was instilled from an early age. This background gives her an instinctive understanding of quality and what it takes to achieve exceptional results on site.

She brings this heritage together with over 20 years of project management experience, where she led multi-million-pound programmes demanding precision, timing and accountability.

This combination of craftsmanship and structured, process-driven delivery ensures every project is carefully planned, professionally managed, and delivered with a calm, methodical approach that clients immediately feel confident in.

Team

Over time, they have built trusted relationships with an exceptional network of artisans and specialist trades, allowing them to scale seamlessly from single rooms to multi-room and larger commercial developments, while maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship and finish.

Many London homes require finishes suitable for renovations, basements and bathrooms where seamless surfaces and durability are essential. We collaborate closely with clients, interior designers and architects on the use of products such as Microcement, Tadelakt and Liquid Metal.

Hertfordshire: We work cross Hertfordshire, including St Albans, Harpenden, Radlett, Bishops Stortford and Cuffley on extensions and full refurbishments, creating Microcement Bathrooms, Venetian Plaster Feature Walls and Media Units, and Tadelakt Bathrooms designed to complement Hertfordshire's finest contemporary and period interiors.
